PEER TEACHING DAILY REPORT
Session 1
Names of the teachers:
Aleena Sara Elias, Ancy M Varghese, Jiya Rachel Mathew
Lesson: Bang the Drum (song)
The class
started at 10 am. The introduction part, middle part and the conclusion part
was taken by Aleena, Jiya and Ancy respectively. They already gave a link to the virtual tour
and the poem, prior to the class. The class was very interactive. Aleena, at the outset, established a good
rapport with the students. She showed
the pictures of the Olympics ring and started a discussion among the students
about it. She, then, made them listen to the famous song, Waka Waka, and
related it to the song, Bang the Drum. She gave the details of the singers and
introduced the song.
Jiya took
over the class from there and asked questions to recollect what was dealt by
Aleena was. She then sang the song with proper stress, rhythm and intonation.
She asked two students to sing the song. She explained the song with its theme.
She clarified the doubts of the students and managed the class well.
The class
was then dealt by Ancy, who took the concluding session. She started the class
with a pleasant smile and sang the song once more an enquired whether the
students had any doubts. Then she initiated a discussion on the padlet, giving
its link on the chat box. The students gave quick responses. Then she gave a follow-up activity, via H5P
link, through which they needed to fill the digital flashcards. Thus, she
concluded the class.
Session 2

Titus
Lesson: The Danger of a Single Story (speech)
The class
started by 10.35 am. The introduction was given by Treeshma Titus. She started
the class with a prayer and salute to the corona warriors. She played a link of
a Ted Talk by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Then she gave a description of the orator.
She taught the speech 'The Danger of a Single Story' by giving a quote by the
orator. She made use of the Ppt slides. She
read the first paragraph and asked a student to read the same. Then she
explained the first paragraph and passed over the class to Ms. Asha Devi.
Asha
started the class by reviewing the first paragraph. She was careful in clearing
the doubts of the students. She asked students about their perspectives on
Africa by mentioning the song Waka Waka. Asha read the second paragraph clearly and explained it. She
presented the PPT with new words and their meanings.
The rest of
the class was dealt by Ms. Steffy Susan Thomas. She read the speech with
correct pronunciation and right intonation, especially when reading
annotations. She asked the students to type the difficult words in the chat
box.Her class were very interactive. She made students attend a quiz through
Quizziz. She made sure that the questions were easy and the students had fun.
Steffy concluded the class with a pinch of curiosity.
Session 3
Names of the teachers: Meenu S Raj, Shyno Mary George
Lesson: The Last Leaf (short story)
Ms. Shyno
Mary started the class by establishing a good rapport among the students. At
the outset she gave a proverb, “Every cloud has a silver lining" and
described it. She presented the three pictures of hope, friendship and
sacrifice. Then she described the team of the story. She introduced the author
with the details including the pen name and the famous works. She appreciated
the students for their responses.
Ms. Meenu S Raj started the class by interacting with the
students. She read the story and explained it. She asked the students whether
they found any difficult words. She clarified the doubts of the students. She
asked the student to read the paragraph. She also presented the difficult words
with their meanings through the PPT slides.
Ms. Shyno
continued the class. She reviewed the story by asking questions from the story.
Then she shared a personal story, which was related to the theme of the short
story, The Last Leaf. She also asked the students to share similar stories to
the class. The class was very interactive. While students share their
experiences, she encouraged them. She concluded the class by asking some
questions related to the story and giving and activity- a paragraph on the
importance of friendship.

Lesson: The Trio (Story)
The class
started at 10:05 am. The introduction part, middle part and the conclusion part
was taken by Arathy, Meera and Surya respectively. The class was very interactive. Arathy, at the outset, established a good
rapport with the students. She noticed
every student and had an informal conversation through the chat box. She gave
the students a task: To identify the movies from the pictures shown in the PPT.
The theme of friendship was presented through these pictures. She introduced
the basic details of the story, 'The Trio'. Then she provided a short biography
of the author, RK Narayan. She called the students by their names and asked
them questions related to the biography.
Meera S
Nair reviewed the information, Arathy taught. Then she read the story. She
advocated silent reading by the students and asked them to jot down the
difficult words in the paragraph. Meera then presented the new words and their
meaning with illustration. She explained the paragraph in short words.
A Surya
Krishna made an informal interaction with the students. She asked the students
to remember the points from the story both the teachers taught. She gave an
activity on Quizziz and winded up the class.
Session 2

Lesson: Taj Mahal (Poem)
The
introduction was given by Meenu Susan Jose. She started the class with an
informal interaction with the students. She asked one of the students to sing
the National Anthem and asked the class about the author. Then she presented a
slide to show the basic details of the author, Rabindranath Tagore. She called
the students by their names and asked them questions based on the slides. She,
then, introduced the name of the poem, Taj Mahal. She recited the poem with
correct stress, intonation and rhythm. Then she explained the poem. She also
asked the students questions based on the poem.
Vinitha V
started the class by ensuring that the previous class was effective. To make
sure, she asked the students some questions. Then, she recited the poem. She
asked one of the students to do the same. She corrected the flaws in reading.
She asked the students to find out the difficult words from the poem. She also
took care to clear the doubts of the students. She re-recited the poem and
explained it clearly. She interacted with the students well.
Priji Sasidharan took the concluding session. She started the class by establishing a good rapport with the students. Then she described the literary device simile. Many doubts arise when the discussion was done. She clarified every doubt that came in the class. She gave an activity to pick out instances of simile from the poem. Then she explained the idea of images used in the poem- visual and auditory. She also asked the students to find out visual and auditory images from the poem. She managed the class very well.

Lesson: The
Song of the Dream (Poem)
Jiya Rachel
Mathew started the class by establishing a good rapport among the students. She
asked them about the dreams while she had an interaction with them. Then she
introduced the poet, Sarojini Naidu by telling them that she was about to share
the dream of a poet who is known as the Nightingale of India. She then gave a
brief description on the poet and the poem. She I asked them question to ensure
that they got a clear idea about the poet and the poem.
Ancy M
Varghese asked them questions related to the introduction and made sure that
the students got a clear idea about the introduction. She then recited the poem
with correct intonation stress and rhythm. After reciting the poem she
discussed with them about rhyming words. She cited examples from the first
stanza and asked the students to find the examples from the second stanza. The
students responded well. She then explained the poem and discussed the theme
with the students. She gave instances of literary devices from the poem and
asked the students to find out the literary devices used in the poem.
Aleena Sara Elias asked questions related to the poem.
She played the YouTube link which had the recitation and illustration of the
poem. The students enjoyed it well. She gave Quizziz link on the chat box and
them to take part in the quiz. She appreciated each and every student
participated in the quiz. Then she gave an activity- to write a letter to a
friend explaining one of their dreams. She thus, concluded the class.

Lesson: The Little Round Red House (story)
The class started
at 10:00 am. The introduction part, middle part and the conclusion part was
taken by Anoop, Shyno and Meenu respectively. Anoop Abraham started the slide
with a boy who is bored. From pupils response he moved to the theme of
travelling and thus to the title of the story, 'The Little Round Red House' and
the author.
Shyno Mary
George started the class by establishing a good rapport. She reviewed the title
and the author of the story. Then she read the story with correct expression
and Emphasis to the dialogues. She called two of the students and made them
read the story, taking the part of the characters. She appreciated the students
and explained the story. She also discussed the difficult words with their
meanings and illustration. She was very interactive with the students
Meenu S Raj reviewed the story by asking questions to the students. Later she gave an activity to write about the favourite place and concluded the class.
Session 2

Lesson: My Grandmother’s House (poem)
The
introduction was given by A Suryakrishna. She started the class with an
informal interaction with the students. She did a warm up exercise and started
the class. She showed the pictures of her grandparents and a house at the
background of the picture telling that it was her grandmother's house. Thus she
mentioned the title of the poem. She was very interactive with the students.
She gave a short biography of the author and discussed with the students about
it.
Arathy J B reviewed
the information shared by Surya. Then she read the poem with correct intonation
stress and rhythm. Then she explained the poem along with a discussion. During
the explanation, she told them the difficult words and their meanings. She also
played an audio version of the poem. She made two of the students read the poem
too.
Meera S
Nair discussed the poetic devices in the poem by using examples. She then gave
a link related to the similes. It was very interesting. She asked some question
to the students and concluded the class.

Lesson: Rosa
Parks Sat Still (story)
Vinitha V
started the class by establishing a good rapport among the students. She made a
student sing a song as a part of the warm up session. She showed the pictures
of the famous freedom fighters of India. Then he introduced the title of the
story and the author. She gave a small description of the author, Rosa Parks.
Priji
Sasidharan reviewed the ideas about the author and then moved to the story. She
read the first part of the story with correct stress and intonation. She made
the students read the story silently and asked them to jot down the difficult
words. Explain the story through a discussion
Meenu
started an informal interaction. Then she read the story with correct
pronunciation and stress. She made one of the students read the story. She
involved in a discussion with the students. She gave them a quiz to review the
idea of the story and concluded the chapter.
Session 1

Lesson: The Last Leaf (Story)
The class started at 10:00 am. Ancy M Varghese took the introductory part of the story, The Last Leaf by O Henry. She started the class by establishing a good rapport with the students. She played the song, We Shall Overcome and discussed with them the theme of the song. Thus the theme of the story was also introduced. Then she introduced the title and the author. She gave a small biography of the author with his picture. She then read the first part of the story and explained it to them along with the vocabulary. Ensuring that they don't have any doubts, she went to an activity. The activity was given in Testmoz. Appreciating the students who participated in the activity, she gave a follow up activity- to prepare a poster creating hope during covid-19 and concluded the class.
Session 2

Lesson: On Killing a Tree (Poem)
Aleena Sara Elias started the class through an informal talk. She asked the students some question related to planting trees. Thus she introduced the title of the story, On Killing a Tree. She gave a short biography of the author, Gieve Patel. She also discussed the speciality of his poems. She read the poem beautifully absorbing its theme. She made a student read the poem. She explained the poem and gave the meaning of the new words. She
also gave an activity related to the vocabulary. Then she read the second stanza and repeated
the same process. She also asked a student to read the two stanzas together. She gave a quiz
in Quizziz and a follow-up activity. She thus concluded the class.

Lesson: The Last Leaf (story)
Shyno Mary George started the class by establishing a good rapport among the
students. After an open discussion, she reviewed the introductory part of the story. Then she
read the story. She called a student to read the part too. She discussed with the students the
new words related to the story. She explained the story. She was interactive with the students.
She gave them a quiz to review the idea of the story and concluded the chapter. She also gave
them a follow up activity and concluded the class.
