ECSTATIC REFLECTION

  Teaching  kids to count is fine, but  teaching  them what counts is best.          This is a reflection of the teaching practice from 8th February 2021 to 13th February 2021. The week made me realize that practice creates confidence and brings the best out of us. The remaining part of the story, The Happiness Machine as well as the poem, A Prayer in Spring was dealt. The students responded well to all the activities as well as queries. The enthusiasm of the students of course encouraged me. A diagnostic test was put on 12th of the month and was attended by 22 students. The test was conducted via Google form. I ensured the scores by manually checking each responses. A lesson on poetic devices was taken , based on Direct Instruction model. Clarification of the doubts were done using Whatsapp as well as through Google Meet. 

Learning Together Even When We're Apart  The second phase of online teaching practice started on 4th February 2021. I got the opportunity to take three synchronous classes to the ninth standard students of Konni GHSS. The class was through Google meet, in which the students actively participated. After proper planning and discussion with the peer teachers as well as the subject teacher, I dealt the story, The Happiness Machine, by Ray Douglas Bradbury. It was a good start and an enriching experience. 

  The second phase of teaching practice started from 4th February 2021.  My internship takes place at Government Higher Secondary School, Konni, which lies at the nature-blessed Konni, located at Pathanamthitta district of Kerala . A good overview of the second phase of teaching practice was given by Jijan sir, which helped me to get an overall idea of the teaching practice.   I am accompanied by two of my peer teacher-trainees, Aleena Sara Elias and Jiya Rachel Mathew. The internship period has the duration of two weeks, starting from 4 th February 2021 till 20 th of the same month. I am mentored by the veteran English language teacher of the school, Rejitha. The mode of internship is through Whatsapp and Google meet. 

 A day for Yoga was conducted in the guidance of Ms. Lekshmi Jayakumar, who is an alumni of Tabor and an expert in the field of Yoga. It was a fruitful session. It contained two parts, the former one being a discussion on the origin as well as the basic terminology and concepts of Yoga and the latter being a practical session of Yoga positions, that could applied in real life as well as in classroms. 

United We Stand, Divided We Fall  As per the B.Ed Curriculum, a 5 day community living program was arranged from 28th January 2021 to 1st February 2021. The program was named Athijeev, literally translates survival. The tagline of the program was ' Akannirikkam Manassukondu Adukkam', which means Lets keep distance, but not by minds.
